Inspiration
“Firefly Lullaby” was inspired by a beautiful, sparkly night many years ago in the Texas Hill Country. The rhythm and songs of the nocturnal creatures felt like a soothing lullaby to the author. She later returned home to Dallas and painted a canvas inspired by that impressive experience. The painting then inspired the book, and the book was the spark for the MP3.
“The sounds of the natural world bring me joy. As a city dweller, I do not often hear this richly textured song of creatures. Knowing that many urban kids are also rarely exposed to this natural symphony, I hope that children can experience a little bit of the wonder and beauty of nature through this book and recording.” Karen Weiss, author/artist.
